This is just sickening and disgusting. MySpace deleted an entire Atheist group simply for being an atheist group. This after going out of their way to save a Christian group. I don't use MySpace, and this just guarantees I never will.
This is just another reminder that I'm in probably the last group in this country that can be so openly and blatently discriminated against. I guess atheists are about 150 years behind racism, 100 years behind sexism, and about 30 years behind GLBT in getting any real protection against bigotry. While none of those groups have gotten as far as they should, at least blatent, open discrimination has been eliminated for them. But not for atheists. But hey, that's ok, we're all just godless heathens who will burn in hell, so that's all we deserve.

This is the first I've heard of that site in the link, but I'd like to point out that my school's websense blocks it as "illegal or questionable." Interesting.
Was it deleted for content, or because it was hacked (for the third time)?
It looks like it was for content, given that Christian sites have also been hacked, and the response there from the admins was to go out of their way to restore the Christian site. I have no information that it has ever been hacked, but even if that were so, given the response to the Christian site, it still shows discrimination.
I'm not personally an atheist, but I agree with you on this one - this is discrimination. This is a First Amendment violation. The atheist group has a right under the First Amendment to practice their religion (of not believing in God) freely, and to assemble peaceably and speak freely. I hope somebody takes this to the ACLU (card-carrying member here) - they've defended weirder stuff.
The fact that this happened is utterly unacceptable, but isn't myspace a privately owned group? If so, it would be legal to delete the atheist group if they claimed that they believed atheism to be immoral, but myspace ain't no Christian website!
Fucking stupid.
